Liverpool boss Jürgen Klopp spoke to the media for the first time since the departure of Philippe Coutinho at Melwood on Friday.

The Brazilian left for Barcelona at the beginning of this week for a fee in the region of £142m. Klopp said the club ‘had no option’ but to let Coutinho leave and said they tried everything to keep him on.

The Liverpool boss was speaking ahead of Liverpool’s eye-catching clash with league leaders Manchester City this Sunday and also provided an update on injuries and availability, with Mohamed Salah set to return.
