Sadio Mane says Liverpool are not putting themselves under pressure as the Premier League title race hots up.
The Reds will continue their march to a first league title since 1990 when they face Leicester City at Anfield on Wednesday.
And while there is obviously pressure that comes with challenging for top honours, Sadio Mane says the Reds are not placing themselves under unnecessary stress by thinking too far ahead in the title race.
“We have experience now,” the no.10 told Liverpoolfc.com. “Of course we are confident if we’re winning – but not too much, we know what can happen. We are still professional footballers and we’re still going to try to take it game by game.
“The season is long and we have many games. Making pressure for ourselves doesn’t help. Why not just try to win games until the end of the season?”
On the relief of an 11-day break between games against Crystal Palace and Leicester City, Mane said: “It’s good for us to have a few days off and get a few injured players back, because now there’s quite a lot.
“We still have a strong team. [And] the other players are going to give their best for the team.”
