Sadio Mané says Liverpool must defend better after conceding three goals in the opening day 3-3 draw at Vicarage Road on Saturday.
Speaking to LFC TV, Mané mentioned that Liverpool must improve in defence if their results are to improve in future.
Mané: “I’m a little bit disappointed because we deserved to win. We should defend better. It’s the first game of the season, we’ll try to work hard for the next games.”
Mané, who has regained full fitness following a season ending knee injury sustained in the 3-1 Merseyside Derby win at Anfield in April, spoke about his and the squad’s fitness and how focused he and his team mates are on the crucial Champions League qualifier against Hoffenheim on Tuesday.
Mané: “Everybody is fit. I feel fine. We’re unlucky we didn’t get the three points. We’ll be ready for the next game.
“With all respect to Watford, we should have won. But its football. We’re going to accept it and try to be ready for the next game.”
It would have been a disappointing day for Mané, after he fired Liverpool level in the first half after some lovely interplay with Emre Can. Liverpool fell behind again moments later before regaining the lead through a Roberto Firmino penalty in the second half.
Mohamed Salah, making his league debut for the Reds, put Liverpool ahead for the first time before Miguel Britos secured a point for Watford in th 94rd minute after shoddy defending yet again.
Liverpool face Hoffenheim on Tuesday before the visit of Crystal Palace next Saturday afternoon.
