Italian source Corriere dello Sport are claiming that Liverpool have had a €28m bid rejected for Lazio star Sergej Milinkovic-Savic.
The 22-year-old Serbian midfielder is one of the most highly rated prospects in Serie A, boasting 7 goals and 10 assists in 39 appearances for Lazio last season.
Liverpool’s supposed move for Milinkovic-Savic may suggest that they have put the brakes on any potential deal for top midfield target Naby Keita, with RB Leipzig determined to keep hold of their star man.
But prising Milinkovic-Savic away from Lazio could prove to be an equally difficult task, with this report now claiming that Lazio President Claudio Lotito has placed a €70m asking price on the Serbian midfielders head, with the Rome based club determined to keep hold of one of their most talented players.
Winger Keita Balde Diao, who also belongs to Lazio, is another to have been heavily linked with Liverpool. It appears he is now closing in on a switch to AC Milan, but Lazio would be extremely reluctant to let both him and Milinkovic-Savic leave the club this summer.
Reds midfielder Marko Grujic will know fellow countryman Milinkovic-Savic well and it remains to be seen whether Liverpool will up their offer for the midfielder, despite being told to forget the idea of taking him to Anfield this summer.
