Alberto Moreno travelled to Italy yesterday to seal a free transfer to Lazio, though he didn’t tell his manager about it.
The left-back was pictured in Rome with former team-mate Lucas Leiva, who currently plies his trade for Lazio. Another former Red, Luis Alberto, also plays for the Italian club.
Moreno is under no obligation to tell Jurgen Klopp or Liverpool about what he plans to do after his contract at Anfield expires, but his actions may be perceived as disrespectful to his current club.
There will be, however, no love lost between Klopp and the Spaniard, who has fallen completely out of favour at Liverpool.
Moreno has started just four times this season and is behind both Andy Robertson and James Milner in the left-back pecking order.
However, with Robertson banned for the first leg of Liverpool’s Champions League qualifier against Porto on April 9, the 26-year-old may still be required to fill in.
Moreno has come close to a move to Italy before, with a deal with Napoli on the cards at one stage in 2017 before the Reds rejected an £11million bid.
20-year-old Nigerian striker Bobby Adekanye has also been linked to a move to Lazio after rejecting a new contract offer from Liverpool, meaning four former Reds could soon be lining up for the same club.
