James Milner believes Sadio Mane is “on fire” right now after the attacker scored a fantastic brace against Bayern Munich last night.
The Senegalese international twice embarrassed Manuel Neuer to send the Reds through to the quarter-finals of the Champions League, with Virgil van Dijk contributing to the scoreline as well.
And Milner, who captained the team for most of the game after Jordan Henderson picked up an early injury, thinks his teammate is in great form.
“Sadio is on fire,” said Milner, according to Sky Sports. “The first goal was ridiculous really, how he finished it off, the calmness and the finish. Hopefully that continues for the rest of the season.”
Of Liverpool’s victory, he added: “I thought it was a good performance away from home in Europe against a good team.
“It’s never easy, they’re going to have spells on top. We didn’t play our best but it’s about getting a result.
“We defended pretty well, didn’t give them too much, and the front three were outstanding again.”
