Sadio Mané believes that his volley against Spartak Moscow is up there with the best goals he has scored in his career.
The winger scored twice in the second half as Liverpool secured an emphatic 7-0 victory over their Russian counterparts to secure their place into the knockout stages as Group E winners.
Mané acrobatically scored the Reds fourth of the evening, and in an interview with LFCTV, the Senegal international felt as if that goal was one to remember on a memorable night at Anfield.
He said: “The first goal – one of the best I have scored. Each striker in the world would love to score goals, it is what I wanted to do tonight and I am pleased I am on the scoresheet.”
Mané returned to the starting line-up after being rested for the 5-1 thrashing of Brighton and Hove Albion on Saturday, and stressed his love of being part of the so-called ‘Fab Four’.
“I am very happy to play alongside these great players, they make it easier for me, I am happy with that. “Without the team we are nothing, credit goes to everybody.”
After racing to a 3-0 lead after just 18 minutes, many Liverpool fans would have wanted more goals to avoid a repeat of what happened in Sevilla, and the Reds delivered, just in time for the Merseyside derby on Sunday.
Mané added: “We played fantastic football, we didn’t concede, we did what we had to do, it is always important to score many goals.
“We won, we are happy. We will try to do our best against Everton, we want to win for the fans.”
