This week was highlighted by Sheyi Ojo’s explosive return from long-term injury, and Taiwo Awoniyi getting back amongst the goals in Belgium.

Allan Rodrigues de Souza, Apollon Limassol

Apollon Limassol’s hopes of Europa League progress officially came to an end on Thursday, after they lost 4-0 at Lyon. Allan was not involved in the squad. Apollon host Ethnikos Achna on Monday, where he may feature.

Taiwo Awoniyi, Royal Excel Mouscron

Royal Excel Mouscron continued their poor recent form, losing 3-1 at Gent on Friday. Taiwo Awoniyi played the whole 90 minutes, and scored Mouscron’s only goal, finishing off a rebound in the 33rd minute.

Awoniyi has five goals in 15 games in all competitions this season.

Pedro Chirivella, Willem II

 Willem II drew 3-3 at VVV Venlo on Saturday. Pedro Chirivella missed out through injury.

Shamal George, Carlisle United

Shamal George was twice an unused substitute this week, with his Carlisle’s losing 3-0 at Luton Town on Tuesday, and drawing 1-1 against Morecambe at the weekend.

Toni Gomes, Forest Green Rovers

Forest Green Rovers lost 3-2 at Chesterfield on Tuesday, before drawing 1-1 with Cheltenham on Saturday. Toni Gomes was not involved in the squad in the midweek game, and was an unused substitute in the latter result.

Ryan Kent, SC Freiburg

Ryan Kent made his return to the Freiburg squad on Saturday, as his side took on Mainz 05. The winger came on at half time, helping Freiburg to a 2-1 victory.

Sheyi Ojo, Fulham

Sheyi Ojo returned from his long-term shoulder injury with a bang on Tuesday, as the winger started and bagged a brace and added an assist to help Fulham beat Sheffield United 5-4 in a wild game.


Elsewhere, Fulham’s 17-year-old reported Liverpool target Ryan Sessegnon netted a hattrick for Fulham.

Ojo’s first saw him capitalize on a poor back pass, racing in and calmly slotting past the ‘keeper to level the game at 1-1. His second was a deflected effort from just inside the box to make it 4-2 Fulham.

The Cottagers also won on Saturday, beating Millwall 1-0. Ojo played the whole game.

Divock Origi, VfL Wolfsburg

Wolfsburg travelled to Augsburg on Saturday, losing 2-1 after an 11th minute red card by Maximilian Arnold. Divock Origi played the full match, picking up a yellow card in the 77th minute.

Connor Randall, Hearts

Connor Randall was an unused substitute in Hearts’ 0-0 draw with Ross County.

Jordan Williams, Rochdale

Rochdale lost 2-1 at Charlton Athletic on Tuesday, before beating Peterborough United 2-0 at the weekend. Jordan Williams missed out on both games.
