Liverpool and Manchester United will need to act really quickly to sign Porto’s Eder Militao before Real Madrid, according to Spanish news outlet Marca.

The Reds are in the market to sign a new versatile defender this summer as injuries at the back threaten to derail what could be a historic season for the club.

Manchester United are also interested in acquiring Eder Militao’s signature but if reports from Spain are to be believed, Real Madrid are closing in on his signature.

Marca write that all that Real Madrid need to complete a deal for Militao is his signature. Liverpool and Manchester United will need to launch a serious charm offensive to swing the balance in their favour.

Jurgen Klopp has really battled to keep his defenders fit this season as Joe Gomez, Dejan Lovren and Joel Matip have all had their fair share of injuries over the last six months.

Signing Militao or a similarly versatile defender would seriously bolster Liverpool’s squad.
