Liverpool are set to compete in the EFL Trophy for the first time in the 2019/20 season, according to LiverpoolFC.com.
Manchester United will also enter this coming season, with both sides preparing to select an U21 team to compete after accepting an EFL invitation.
The competition comprises 64 clubs, with 48 drawn from League One and League Two along with a further 16 Category One Academy teams.
Liverpool and United had refrained from entering in previous years but their decision to join means the Premier League’s top six will now all be represented when the draw is made next month.
The first round of matches will take place from September 2.
