Jürgen Klopp provided an extensive injury update in his pre-Bournemouth press conference on Friday with Liverpool taking on Eddie Howe’s side on the south coast this Sunday.

Loris Karius started in goal against West Brom on Wednesday, with Jürgen Klopp claiming this was due to a slight knock that Simon Mignolet picked up in the Merseyside derby last weekend.

The Liverpool boss confirmed that Mignolet will return to the side at the Vitality Stadium on Sunday.

There was also some encouraging news on the fitness of Adam Lallana, with Klopp revealing that the midfielder should be ready to be involved in the match day squad on Sunday.

Klopp: “Adam is back in full and normal training; if nothing changed since yesterday then he will be ready for the squad at least.”

News emerged earlier this week that centre-back Joel Matip could return ahead of schedule, but Klopp has revealed that he will not be ready to face Bournemouth on Sunday.

“Joel is on a good way, running outside. Not available for the weekend, of course. The same for Clyney.”

Daniel Sturridge was unavailable for the Merseyside derby on Sunday as well as West Brom’s visit to Anfield, and Klopp says it’s still unclear whether he’ll be able to play a part against Bournemouth.

Joe Gomez was on the bench on Wednesday evening after picking up a knock in the derby, but Klopp says he’s now fully recovered. James Milner and Andy Robertson have also been nursing knocks.

“Daniel, we have to wait to see how he improved since yesterday. We have a few little things, with Joe Gomez, knocks from the game. Joe had a little bit before, that’s why we left him out. But he should be OK.”

“Millie and Robbo, a few knocks from the game, should be OK.”

Alberto Moreno remains absent after sustaining an ankle injury against Spartak Moscow last week.

“Moreno has no chance for Sunday. I saw him yesterday on the bike – good but not good enough.”
