Jürgen Klopp has insisted that his Liverpool team can still improve a lot despite a breathtaking 3-0 win over Bayern Munich on Tuesday evening.

The Reds boss is refusing to get carried away after goals from Sadio Mané, Mohamed Salah and Daniel Sturridge saw the Reds breeze past Bayern Munich and advance to the final of the Audi Cup.

Liverpool were a huge threat to Bayern Munich’s defence every time they came forward and there is a lot of excitement amongst fans surrounding the likes of Philippe Coutinho, Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mané and Roberto Firmino.

But Klopp thinks the Reds can improve on the ball and would liked to have seen Bayern Munich having more difficulties playing through the Reds in the centre of the park.

“We won 3-0 but I don’t like running around saying, ‘How good was this?’ because it wasn’t. In a few parts, of course, it was good. In a few other parts everyone saw that Bayern had the ball too often and it was too easy to play through our lines. I cannot ignore this on a day like today.

“And it is not that I am trying to make the Premier League afraid, ‘Oh my god, Liverpool beat Bayern 3-0 and they can do better’. We have to do better and that is what we are working on.”

“I have to speak about things that are not good because I see it. The beginning of the second half showed in a game like this, against an opponent like Bayern, we can be dominant with the ball.

‘Then we should do it (straight away) and not wait until the second half. We can do much better.”

Sadio Mané was back on the scoresheet after several months on the sidelines, but Klopp played down his contributions and says he still has a way to go until he’s fully fit again.

“You saw that Sadio is not where he can be, so he needs playing time, playing time, playing time. Yes, of course, they are both good but they don’t need to know it all the time when they play together ‘Oh my god with Phil Coutinho behind as well to play all the passes for them to run in behind.’

“Football is not that easy so I don’t want to talk about this. Yes it looks good, but they need to get fit and stay fit and hard and resistant because the season will be difficult. That is what we are preparing. I have to speak of things that are not good because I see it.

“Okay at half-time, 2-0, the result was good, but the beginning of the second half showed that in a game against an opponent like Bayern we can be dominant with the ball. And so we should do it and not wait until the second half or whatever.

At first we came late and then like 20 minutes too late and that was the problem. We scored in between, which was nice, but we can do much better.”
