With Fabinho being linked with a shock January exit in recent weeks, Jurgen Klopp has responded, calling the rumours crazy and insisting the Brazilian still has a big role to play for Liverpool.
Since signing for a reported £43million in the summer, Fabinho hasn’t made the smoothest transition into life in the Premier League.
Despite many expecting him to make a seamless transition into life as a Liverpool midfielder, he has seen a lot more of the bench than he would have hoped but is now well on his way to becoming completely comfortable in Klopp’s demanding tactical system.
And while it was fairly obvious that stories linking the Brazilian with a shock move to AC Milan and PSG were completely wide of the mark, Klopp has moved to allay fears over Fabinho’s role in the Liverpool squad.
Speaking at his pre-Watford press conference, Klopp said: “If he was one for the future and settling, he played three of the last four and did well. It was all good.
“Now the most intense period of the whole season is coming up. He has used the time to adjust to what we want him to do.
“He has done really good when he has played. Of course he will not leave. It’s the crazy world out there that if he doesn’t play the last five games then [people say] he will leave.”
