Jurgen Klopp waxed lyrical about centre-back Virgil van Dijk after last night’s emphatic 3-1 victory over Bayern Munich at the Allianz Arena.
The Dutchman scored a towering headed goal to put Liverpool 2-1 up before Sadio Mane added his second of the night to clinch the tie.
And Klopp was eager to praise his £75million signing in the wake of the win.
“You could write a book about his skills, his strengths, how much I like him, what a fantastic person he is,” Klopp said, as quoted by Sky Sports.
“He’s so young, already so mature, so strong, all good.”
He jokingly added: “He was involved in Bayern’s goal as well, so what a night.
“Virgil knows he can play better than he did. We can play better.”
Liverpool co-owner John W. Henry also had his say on Van Dijk, tweeting after the game: “75 per cent of the earth is covered by water, the rest by Van Dijk”.
