A new feature piece this week, we spoke to six Liverpool fans who told us which five players they want to see the club sign this summer.

This is Anfield’s Henry Jackson chooses five players he’d like to see running out in a Red shirt at the start of next season.

Jonathan Tah (£30million)

In an ideal world, the Virgil van Dijk signing will still get done, but that is looking increasingly unlikely. Jonathan Tah would be an excellent alternative, and at 21, the German has so many years ahead of him.

An all-round top class defender with quality both on and off the ball, Liverpool should get him now before someone like Bayern Munich get there first.

Benjamin Mendy (£35million)

Liverpool are crying out for a natural left-back with endless energy up and down the flank, with James Milner a solid but ultimately limited option there last season.

Benjamin Mendy fits the bill perfectly, and the Reds should do all they can to get him, after a superb season at Monaco.

Man City look strong favourites for his signature, though, and it wouldn’t be a shock to see Milner starting again next season. Jurgen Klopp loves him.

Naby Keita (£50million)

Not exactly the most ‘out there’ choice, considering he is one of Klopp’s primary targets, but Naby Keita would be a sensational signing.

Voted the second-best players in the Bundesliga last season by supporters, behind Robert Lewandowski, he would add so much to an already talented Reds midfield.

Box-box, creative and full of end product – sign him up!

Douglas Costa (£40million)

Talks with Mohamed Salah aren’t exactly going smoothly, and assuming that deal doesn’t get over the finish line, I would love to see Douglas Costa in a Liverpool shirt.

Yes, he’s not the most consistent, but on his day he’s genuinely world-class and signing him would be a real signal of intent. The Reds are crying out for more pace and trickery out wide – he could really shine alongside fellow Brazilians Philippe Coutinho and Roberto Firmino.

Alexandre Lacazette (£40million)

With Daniel Sturridge injury-ravaged and Divock Origi still a work in progress, Liverpool need a top drawer finisher to come in and add real competition in attack.

Alexandre Lacazette’s style of play would be perfect under Klopp, and while Firmino should still arguably start, it would give Klopp a great selection headache.

You don’t bank on many Reds players to finish off chances, but 91 goals in the last three seasons at Lyon speaks volumes about Lacazette’s pedigree. He is a realistic target, unlike Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
