Fabinho has spoken about why he chose to join Liverpool last summer, with the midfielder citing the influence of Roberto Firmino as a key factor.
The 25-year-old joined the Reds from Monaco shortly after the Champions League final defeat and took several months to acclimatise to Jurgen Klopp’s methods.
However, the Brazilian is now an important member of the Liverpool squad, and has earned plenty of plaudits from fans, pundits and players for his all-action performances in the middle of the park.
“Bobby played an important role in me coming here. Before coming here, I’d spoken to him about what it’s like at the club and what the city is like as well as the good areas to live in,” Fabinho said, as quoted by the Echo.
“It’s always good to have compatriots with you when you join a new club, so my friendship with him has been important.”
Fabinho also highlighted the impact of his manager in how he’s helped him raise his game in the Premier League and Champions League this season.
“He’s a coach who demands a lot and is very close to his players,” Fabinho added. “I think that both the coach and the coaching staff try to get the best out of the players.
