It seems a long time since Liverpool confirmed the long awaited signing of Mohamed Salah from Roma. Many have been eager to see the Reds make more additions since then.

But what shouldn’t be forgotten is how exciting a signing Salah is for Liverpool. The deal took a while to go through but it was an impressive piece of business and the Egyptian looks set to make his Reds debut in the next week.

To find out more about what we can expect to see from Salah, we spoke to the AS Roma Press, an American based Roma fan page with a huge reputation.

With Roma releasing the fee for Mohamed Salah at £36.9m with add-ons, what’s the feeling from their side? Are they happy with the profit they’ve made?

Given that Roma had to earn roughly €30 million in profit this window to comply with their Financial Fair Play agreement with UEFA, the fee certainly pleases Roma fans. Though, given the current market, I still feel as if Roma could have perhaps earned more. However, given the potential bonuses, I think the price is fair for both sides.

What was it that caused negotiations to go on for so long? Were Liverpool haggling for a lower price?

Yes, I think Liverpool trying to lower Roma’s demands are what drew talks on for so long. Roma knew what they had to earn for the Financial Fair Play so there was no chance they were going to lower their asking price.

Were there any other clubs in for Salah?

There was certainly interest but nothing concrete. Salah wanted Liverpool, and Liverpool wanted Salah.

What exactly should Liverpool fans expect from their new Number 11?

He’s a very dynamic player. He will certainly need time to re-adapt to the Premier League, but once he settles, the goal scoring opportunities should start pouring in when he’s on the pitch.

What’s Salah like off the pitch?

He’s very quiet, but very professional. He’s always willing to chat with fans and has always been polite towards the media, so there’s no complaints regarding him off the pitch.

How excited should Liverpool fans get over the prospect of Mané, Firmino and Salah lining up together at Watford on August 12th?

Very excited, it seems to be a very balanced attack that has incredible speed on the flanks and should give full-backs absolute nightmares.

Last time we spoke, we discussed the fact that Salah has evolved since his days at Chelsea. What specific areas of his game has he improved in that have transformed him into such a dangerous attacker?

He’s much more decisive when he has the ball at his feet. He’s more sure of himself and his ability and has the confidence to take on defenders or go for goal.

Everyone, by now, is aware of the pace and technical abilities the Egyptian possesses. These traits steal most of the spotlight. Is there an area of his game where you feel he is underrated in?

I think his ability to play anywhere across the attack makes him an attractive attacker. In 2015-2016, Roma were forced to play with a false 9 and often rotated their attack during the match. He was deployed as a false 9, on the left, and on the right. He was able to make his presence known no matter where he was on the pitch.
