Jurgen Klopp has selected a strong side to face Brighton at the Amex Stadium as the Reds look to go seven points clear of Manchester City at the top of the Premier League.

Liverpool are looking to get back to winning ways after starting 2019 with back to back defeats against City and Wolves in the Premier League and FA Cup.

With the Reds going through something of a defensive crisis, Klopp has gone with an interesting backline but his trusted front three of Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane will be on show once again.

Salah, who was named Liverpool’s POTM for December after scoring 7 goals in 8 games, starts up front alongside Firmino and Mane.

In midfield, Jordan Henderson, Georginio Wijnaldum and Xherdan Shaqiri are deployed together and will look to provide the link between defence and attack that has looked so balanced in recent months at Liverpool.

Meanwhile, Fabinho starts in central defence as Liverpool’s lack of fit central defenders is exposed. Virgil van Dijk is his partner while they are flanked by Trent Alexander-Arnold and Andy Robertson.

Alisson is in goal.

XI: Alisson; Alexander-Arnold, Fabinho, van Dijk, Robertson; Henderson, Wijnaldum, Shaqiri; Salah, Firmino, Mane.

Subs: Mignolet, Mignolet, Keita, Moreno, Origi, Matip, Camacho.
