Emre Can believes that Liverpool will not fear anyone after their 7-0 thrashing of Spartak Moscow to book their place in the UEFA Champions League last 16.
Phillipe Coutinho scored a hat-trick whilst Sadio Mané netted a brace, with Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino also getting on the scoresheet at Anfield.
After the game, the Liverpool midfielder told LFCTV that his side will not be worried about any of their potential opponents in the knockout stages.
He said: “We are not afraid of any team. The performance was very good, if you win 7-0 it has to be good, we played brilliant up-front.”
“We started really well – we scored the goal – we played brilliant in the second half, it was a very good performance.”
Can has been subject to a lot of transfer speculation in recent weeks, with his contract expiring in the summer, yet the German has revealed he loves playing alongside the ‘Fab Four’ in this Liverpool side.
“Moscow had their chances as well, 7-0 is a good result for us, the understanding of the front four is incredible, they are quick, they play football, they are very very strong players,” he added. “It is nice to play in this team!”
Jürgen Klopp’s side will return to Premier League action on Sunday in the much-anticipated Merseyside derby, but after scoring 12 goals in their last two games, Can can’t wait to feature.
He added: “Everybody is excited about Everton, we are really looking forward to it, we will do everything to win that game.”
