Alisson Becker is said to be thrilled by the prospect of playing for Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool as the world-record deal nears completion.
The Brazilian is expected to fly into Merseyside on Wednesday to complete his medical and put pen to paper on a five-year deal.
It seemed earlier in the window that his heart was set on a move to Real Madrid, but Los Blancos did not submit a bid, leaving the player to effectively choose between Liverpool and rival suitor Chelsea.
The Reds hold a key advantage over their Premier League rivals in that they can offer Champions League football, while Chelsea will be playing in the Europa League next season after finishing fifth.
But Alisson also appears to have stunned by the sensational atmosphere which comes with European nights at Anfield after visiting with Roma for last season’s semi-final.
Moreover, according to Echo journalist James Pearce, he has bought into Klopp’s exciting project, having held talks with the manager this week.
He appreciates the long-term nature of Liverpool’s interest, which emerged in the early part of the year.
Compatriot Roberto Firmino was reportedly influential in his decision, providing a ‘ringing endorsement’ about life at Liverpool.
Alisson’s settling-in process will be made smoother by the presence of fellow Brazilians Firmino and Fabinho.
The move will be officially completed in the next 24-48 hours, barring any last-minute hitches.
