Liverpool will move for Alexandre Lacazette this summer, according to reports from French radio station, RMC.
Lacazette has been linked with a move to the Premier League many times in recent years, and a move to Merseyside has been speculated.
With Daniel Sturridge’s future on Merseyside in doubt, the Reds could move for the French international, who has scored an impressive 30 goals in 39 appearances this season for Lyon. Over the seasons he has 122 goals in 269 games for the Ligue 1 side and has ten caps for France so far.
While Roberto Firmino has been brilliant for the Reds, especially in recent games, if Sturridge does depart, Klopp could look to sign a No.9 to strengthen his squad with European football to compete in next season if all goes to plan.
RMC reported that Liverpool have had the player down as a long-term target for the last three years. However they are not alone, as they face competition from Borussia Dortmund and Atletico Madrid for the 25-year-old.
As always, Champions League would be vital to attract an in-demand player like Lacazette, something with is also true for reported defensive target Virgil van Dijk.
Signing a player of Lacazette’s quality would certainly improve Liverpool’s squad and provide a player capable of scoring 20 goals per season.
