According to talkSPORT Liverpool are gearing up to compete for the signature of Thiago Maia.
The Brazilian starlet first attracted attention after the Rio olympics last year and has continued to impress ever since at his current club Santos. The 20-year-old is one of Brazil’s most promising players, playing in a deep-lying midfield role. The Brazilian is a skilled dribbler and tackler and has impressed with his layoffs and distribution this season, suggesting that the youngster could provide backup in midfield for skipper Jordan Henderson.
His impressive performances have attracted an number of European suitors willing to pay over the odds to lure Maia across the Atlantic. Lille, Chelsea, Napoli, Schalke and Besiktas have all been reported to be in competition with Liverpool for the midfielder. However, Maia is under contract at Santos until 2019, and the club will not be willing to let the star leave for anything less than the right price.
