Rumours that Liverpool made a €50m bid for Marco Asensio have been confirmed by Spanish outlet, AS.
Spanish radio channel El Partidazo de Cope broke the news about Asensio on Wednesday evening and today the Madrid-based sports journal corroborated the information.
Marco Asensio has become one of Europe’s most sought-after players, with Jürgen Klopp as one of his admirers.
However, Real Madrid have no intention to sell the player, who scored the final goal in Tuesday’s Champions League triumph for Madrid over Bayern Munich. He is understood to be happy at Real Madrid.
In addition to this, Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane has complete faith in the 21-year-old and he is apparently prepared to let James Rodriguez leave the Bernabeu this summer to advance the youngster’s development. Asensio has been told by the Frenchman that he will have a key role in the team next season.
The Mallorca-born Asensio headed to the mainland in 2014 to join Real Madrid but was immediately loaned back to his former club for another season. He had another loan spell at Espanyol but now he has secured his place at Madrid and is fighting for a first-team place next season.
